WHAT IS MY CALLING?
Are there days you feel called to do what you do? Are there days you're not sure what you are supposed to do? I have to admit, there are times I doubt my calling. I feel unsure about where God is taking me. Am I headed down the right path or did I miss a turn back about three miles? When the doubts set in, where do you turn? What do we do to ensure we are indeed fulfilling the call God has placed on our lives?

"For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." (2 Peter 1:5-8)

What do you think of that list? I look at that and immediately think, that's way too much work. Everyone of those is not easy to achieve, yet it is what God expects from us. It is what we are called to do. No one said it would be easy. But will it be worth it? Absolutely! I think we sometimes confuse our calling with the task God has laid before us. God constantly has different jobs He expects from me. They may change according to where He has me or what He needs at any particular time but His calling on my life is constant. I am called to live my life according to what He has laid out in scripture. And if I do, He promises a reward in the end. "Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." (2 Peter 1:10-11)
