From the Word
REMEMBER JESUS
Why is it so easy to forget that what we do in life needs to point to Jesus? It is so easy in the music world to have the focus be totally on us - the performers and not Jesus. So how do we make sure that people are seeing the God we serve instead of us, the servants. I don’t think there are any easy answers here. It seems like the times I try hard to make sure that God is getting the glory for what I do, I fail. What did you notice about that last sentence. “I try... I do... I fail...” Just when I think I am going in the right direction I realize that I have totally left God out of the equation and all my work is being done in my own strength. Without God, there is nothing. There are no songs, there is no music, there are no words. If God does not do it, it is worth nothing. God is glorified when I am not even thinking about me. If I simply keep things in perspective, I begin to understand that Jesus is the only reason we have to sing, write or perform. It’s all about Him!
