God has given each of us unique talents and abilities to use in his service. When I look at someone else and wish I could play the piano like them, or sing like them or paint like them or write like them, what am I saying to God? You blew it God! I want what that person has. They got a better deal and I am getting the shaft here!
It is sometimes very hard for us as artists to be content. The Parable of the Workers in Vineyard is all about contentment. Am I satisfied with what God has done for me. More importantly, am I thankful for what God has given me. We must keep our eyes on God and not others. God has uniquely gifted each one of us. We are all originals. No two of us are alike. Rather than comparing our abilities to those around us, we need to be looking how our specific gifts fit into God's plan for our lives. I usually gag when someone says this but it is true. "Bloom where you are planted." God has you where you are for a reason. Spend your time serving him with the opportunities He has laid out before you. The next time you see someone using their talents to glorify God, celebrate with them. We must fight our human instinct to be critical or envious of what God is doing in the lives of others.

BOTTOM LINE
We are not the Artist. We are the tools. If the tools are not controlled by the Artist they are simply that... TOOLS.
